What's Next for the Boise River Park?

The River Recreation Park is being built in conjunction with the development of Esther Simplot Park. Future construction includes:

Phase II- A master plan has been approved for the adjacent Esther Simplot Park. Boise Parks & Recreation staff members are finalizing plans for floodplain issues and working with consultants on engineering and design documents for the 55-acre site. Construction is expected to begin in late 2013. Funding is provided by the Simplot family.

Phase III - Pending availability of funds, planning and design will begin for construction of the next phase of the River Park. This section will be downriver from the Thurman Mill Diversion Dam and the 36th St. Pedestrian Bridge and feature in-river drops and chutes for a total ¼ mile recreational experience in the river.

Temporary Parking at the Boise River Park
Two temporary parking lots have been developed near the Boise River Recreation Park. Now, access the park from Pleasanton Avenue. Park behind Idaho River Sports or another lot between that and the pedestrian bridge over the Boise River.

Phase I of River Rec Park nears completion
The water is flowing over the in-river work, but shoreline improvements need to be completed before the park is open.

Greenbelt Detour, Fall 2011
Greenbelt to be rerouted during 5 month construction on River Recreation Park rebuilding of Thurman Mill Diversion
